In 2002, The Neighborhood was launched by MCI, now Verizon. It was the industry’s first foray into all-inclusive, local and long-distance residential phone service. With its great success came the challenge of manually processing over 40,000 pieces of returned, or exception pieces of mail a week in the St. Louis distribution center. These are “live” residential accounts receivables that have been returned to the facility as undeliverable by the U.S. Postal Service.
